Zip the air out of your clothes and take back real suitcase space. This three-piece compression packing cube set holds tops, bottoms and smaller items in their own cubes, so you can see everything at a glance instead of digging through a rumpled bag.

How the compression actually works. Each cube is a soft-sided fabric box with a dual-zipper face. You pack it, close the first zip, then close the second zip. The second zip pulls the two faces of the cube together and forces the trapped air out through the fabric, so a stack of folded clothes flattens into roughly the space of a folded laptop. Packing flat rather than rolled is what gives the compression something to bite on. Reopening the second zip releases it in seconds if you need to repack at the hotel.

Good to know

• Works in a carry-on, a checked suitcase or a duffel bag.
• The mesh top panel is a visibility window, not a vent — small loose items can shift inside a cube, so pack socks and underwear into the smallest one.
• Compression helps most with soft, bulky things: knits, t-shirts, fleece, towels. Denim, shoes and structured garments barely compress, so treat those as fixed volume when you are estimating whether everything fits.
• The mesh means the cubes are not waterproof. Keep toiletries in a separate sealed bag so a leak cannot reach your clothes.
• Empty them fully before you compress, and wipe clean with a damp cloth. They are not machine-washable.
