Details
An everyday layer has to do two jobs: keep the wind off and not make you think about it. This one is a hooded casual jacket with a drawstring waist, so you can cinch it for shape or leave it straight for a looser line. The hood is the part that earns it a place over a padded jacket on days when rain is possible but cold is not, which is most of the shoulder season.
