Shell-Print Midi Dress

A shell print does a lot of the work in this dress, and the cut keeps it from becoming novelty. The print is a warm rust-red marine motif, shells and coral forms scattered over a white ground, which is unusual enough to be noticed and warm enough to wear in autumn. Thin straps, a gathered straight neckline and a high-low hem keep the silhouette light, and the self-tie at the waist lets you set the shape yourself.

It works barefoot at the beach and equally well with a low block heel and a small bag for dinner. The tie gives you two options: knotted loosely for a softer line, or tightened for a more defined waist. Because the hem is uneven and falls lower at the back, it reads well with flat sandals, and the print means you can keep accessories minimal. Add a light knit or a shirt over the top on a cooler evening.

Made from a rayon and nylon blend with slight stretch and a lined body, and lists the self-tie drawstring at the gathered waist. Sizes S through XXL. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low.
