How to use a machine polisher without doing damage

The machine is only half of it - the other half is the product you put on the pad, and the rule is to start with the least aggressive option. Work a small panel at a time with the machine flat on the surface rather than tipped onto an edge, keep it moving at a steady pace, and wipe the residue off before you judge the result. Never hold a spinning pad in one spot on one panel, and never use one near a chip or a lifted edge of paint. Because it runs from the 12V socket, work with the engine idling if you are going to be at it for a while.
